Former Agriculture Minister Audu Ogbeh Dies at 78

Audu Ogbeh, former PDP chairman and ex-minister of agriculture, dies at 78, remembered for integrity, service, and decades of dedicated leadership

Audu Ogbeh has died at the age of 78, marking the end of a political era defined by integrity and service.

The former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture from 2015 to 2019 passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, according to a family statement.

“He departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community,” the statement read.

The family requested privacy during this time of mourning and promised to release funeral details soon.

Ogbeh, who led the PDP from 2001 to 2005, was widely respected for his principled leadership and commitment to national development.

His tenure as minister under the late President Muhammadu Buhari was marked by initiatives to strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

Though the cause and place of death were not disclosed, tributes have begun to pour in for a man many saw as a pillar of political decency.
