APC National Chairman 2025 Assumes Office, Declares 2027 a Victory

APC National Chairman 2025, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, assumes office, declares 2027 victory assured, pledges unity, and opens party doors to new members

The new APC National Chairman 2025, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has officially assumed office, vowing that the 2027 presidential election is already a “done deal” for the ruling party.

Yilwatda arrived at the APC national secretariat in Abuja at 4:25 PM on Thursday, 24 July 2025, and was received by members of the National Working Committee.

He pledged to open the party’s doors to new members from opposition parties, especially from both chambers of the National Assembly.

“Our doors are open to welcome new members,” he said. “By God’s grace, I am sure the 2027 election is a done deal for the APC.”

He urged unity among the NWC and members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum. “This party will be the joy, the pride, and the bright light of the entire nation,” Yilwatda said.

Describing his appointment as a “burden of trust,” he thanked the leadership of the party, the National Assembly, and loyal supporters.

“It is both a trust and a burden because it is quite heavy,” he admitted.

Due to his emergence, the Deputy National Secretary, Festus Faunter, tendered his resignation earlier the same day.

Both politicians hail from Plateau State, and the party’s constitution bars two national officers from the same state.

National Legal Adviser Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, SAN, has been appointed to fill the vacant role, following approval by the NEC.

Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, expressed confidence in Yilwatda’s leadership.

He also praised the party’s ongoing e-registration process as a critical innovation for data-driven membership management and greater inclusion.
