Dele Momodu Warns Tinubu About Wike, 2027 Political Calculations

Dele Momodu warns Tinubu about Wike, urging the president to rethink any 2027 political alliance due to Wike’s leadership style and character concerns

Prominent PDP figure and media mogul Dele Momodu has publicly urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider any political alliance with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dele Momodu warns Tinubu about Wike, describing him as unsuitable for long-term strategic partnerships.

Speaking on the character and leadership style of the former Rivers governor, Momodu cautioned that Wike’s influence could undermine the integrity of the political process.

“My appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is that no matter what you are expecting to gain from Wike in 2027, Wike is not the kind of character you should promote,” he said.

“He is not the kind of young man who should hijack our common patrimony.”

Momodu expressed concern about what he perceives as Wike’s transformation since attaining political power, noting that the minister had grown increasingly driven by wealth and ego.

He referred to Wike’s early political years as a local government chairman and claimed that his rise was marked by deference only to figures like Rotimi Amaechi.

“When a man who had been a nobody gets power, he begins to change slowly and steadily,” he said. “The oppressed man respects only one man: the oppressor.”

He also spoke about his past involvement in shaping Wike’s public image during his time as Rivers State governor, helping promote the politician’s projects through strategic media branding. However, the relationship has since turned sour.

Momodu believes the shift reflects deeper ideological and ethical divisions between them, especially as 2027 looms and political realignments intensify.

“After power in Nigeria comes the spirit of money—also very demonic if you don’t know how to manage it well,” he remarked.

The remarks from Momodu come as both ruling and opposition parties begin strategic positioning ahead of the next electoral cycle.
