Senator Barau Jibrin says he will fully support Tinubu’s 2027 decision, including becoming running mate, as Senate prepares for zonal constitutional hearings
Tinubu 2027 loyalty has been firmly pledged by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who declared his complete support for any decision President Bola Tinubu may make regarding the next presidential election.

Barau stated this during a press briefing in Abuja, where he addressed growing calls from political support groups urging Tinubu to consider him as a potential running mate.
“Whatever the President asks me to do, I will do it — 100 per cent. He is my political father. If he calls on me to work with him, I will simply say, ‘Thank you, sir’ and I will do it,” he affirmed.
The Kano-born lawmaker emphasised that political discussions about 2027 remain premature and that all efforts should be directed towards governance and national development under the leadership of President Tinubu.
He praised Tinubu’s commitment to solving inherited challenges and repositioning Nigeria for growth.
“Mr President has been working hard to reposition Nigeria and tackle the problems he inherited. The President is the father of the nation.
But for now, we stand by him, we are working with him, and we want him to succeed. When he succeeds, we all succeed,” Barau noted.
While acknowledging the intentions of those advocating for his vice-presidential candidacy, he advised them to focus on supporting the current administration rather than engaging in early politicking.
He reiterated his unwavering allegiance to Tinubu, saying, “I am a progressive to the core, and loyalty is something I cherish deeply. I am 100 per cent loyal to Mr President.”
In addition to political loyalty, Barau highlighted the work of the Senate Committee on Constitution Review, which he leads as chairman for the North-West zone.
He announced that zonal public hearings would soon begin across six geopolitical regions, with a focus on 59 bills and 31 proposals already submitted.
He invited Nigerians to participate through memoranda and engagement during the hearings.
The scheduled venues include Ikot Ekpene in the South-South, chaired by Senate President Godswill Akpabio or his representative; Kano in the North-West under Barau’s leadership; and Lagos in the South-West, led by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
Other hearings will be held in Jos for the North-Central zone under Deputy Senate Leader Lola Ashiru; Maiduguri for the North-East chaired by Chief Whip Tahir Monguno; and Enugu in the South-East led by Deputy Chief Whip Peter Nwebonyi.
These hearings aim to encourage wide participation and gather diverse input for potential constitutional amendments.
