The appointment and redeployment were announced in separate statements signed by the state Head of Service, Shehu Baraya.

Jelani’s appointment follows the elevation of his predecessor, Mu’azu Jibril Guraguri, to the position of Permanent Secretary in the state civil service.

Baraya urged the newly appointed Statistician-General to discharge his responsibilities with professionalism, integrity and dedication to public service.

The appointment is expected to sustain the collection and management of statistical information used to support government planning and administrative decisions.

In a separate development, the governor approved the redeployment of 19 permanent secretaries across various ministries, departments and agencies in Zamfara State.

The Head of Service said the exercise was designed to broaden the officers’ administrative experience and promote cross-sectoral knowledge within the state civil service.

According to the statement, the redeployment is also aimed at improving administrative efficiency, strengthening accountability and enhancing service delivery across government institutions.

The changes form part of the state government’s efforts to optimise the deployment of senior civil servants and improve the effectiveness of public administration.
