Accord Party backs Ademola Adeleke’s support for Tinubu’s 2027 bid and dismisses critics questioning the governor’s campaign role
The Board of Trustees of the Accord Party has backed Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s decision to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The party also dismissed criticism of Adeleke’s appointment as coordinator of Tinubu’s presidential campaign in Osun State, describing those behind the criticism as people who do not represent the party.
Adeleke, who is the national leader of Accord, was recently named Osun coordinator in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. The appointment attracted attention because the governor is a member of Accord rather than the ruling APC.
In a statement signed by Dr Samson Isibor, the Accord BOT said Adeleke has the full backing of the party in his role and expressed confidence in his ability to mobilise support for Tinubu.
The party was reacting to a statement attributed to Oke Sewedo and Oladeji Oluwatosin, who presented themselves as Accord leaders in Lagos West and Lagos State.
The duo, operating under the name Concerned Leaders of Accord, Lagos State, had called on Adeleke to clarify his political allegiance following his appointment to Tinubu’s campaign team.
The BOT, however, rejected the statement, describing Sewedo and Oluwatosin as impostors.
According to the party leadership, there is no recognised group known as Concerned Leaders of Accord in Lagos State.
It therefore urged members of the public to disregard the statement, adding that the National Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, and BOT Chairman, Reverend Isaac Adeniyi, are authorised to speak officially for the party at the national level.
The Accord BOT commended Tinubu for appointing Adeleke to coordinate his campaign in Osun, saying the governor has the capacity to mobilise support beyond the state.
The party further stated that its members across Nigeria would work towards Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Adeleke has publicly explained his decision to support Tinubu, saying he wants the President to have more time to implement his reforms. He also linked his support to the completion of major infrastructure projects in the South-West.
At the inauguration of Tinubu’s campaign council, Adeleke said four years would not be enough for the President’s reforms to deliver their desired results and pledged to support his second-term bid.
The APC’s revised campaign council also includes FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, with the three opposition figures assigned campaign coordination roles in Rivers/FCT, Anambra and Osun respectively.
Meanwhile, APC chieftain Chief Sam Onuigbo has welcomed the inclusion of Adeleke, Wike and Soludo in Tinubu’s campaign structure.
Onuigbo described the development as an example of democratic collaboration, arguing that political cooperation can help advance governance and national interests.
He also praised Tinubu’s economic policies and reforms, including the student loan scheme, exchange-rate harmonisation and fuel subsidy removal.
Onuigbo said the reforms had created additional resources for the Federal Government and state governments, which he argued could be deployed to provide services and infrastructure for citizens.

The development further highlights the changing political alliances emerging ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with prominent figures from opposition parties now taking roles in Tinubu’s campaign structure.
