Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved N400m in bursaries and scholarships for 13,360 students of Ondo origin in tertiary institutions
Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, flagged off a N400 million bursary, scholarship and financial assistance scheme for 13,360 students of Ondo origin in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The event was held at the Cocoa Conference Centre of the Governor’s Office in Akure.
The beneficiaries are 11,907 bursary recipients, 614 scholarship holders, 239 Law School students, 500 medical students in clinical training and 100 physically challenged students receiving financial assistance.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa called education the seed of a great society and the base of lasting development.
He linked the scheme to the OUR EASE agenda and to the 2026 Budget of Economic Consolidation.
He said the budget funded work on 500 basic schools and that a Digital Literacy Programme had begun with tablets for students in 50 public schools.
“The programme was designed to equip students with digital skills needed to navigate an increasingly technology-driven world and ensure that children of Ondo State were not left behind in innovation and emerging opportunities,” he said.
He added that the government was investing in teachers and had honoured outstanding students, teachers and NYSC award winners.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Professor Igbekele Ajibefun said the N400 million release showed the governor’s commitment to students of Ondo origin.

He said Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had also released N633.918 million for 2026 WASSCE registration in public secondary schools, approved the federal union salary agreement for state tertiary institutions and raised subvention so the new structure can be paid.
