Isaac Fayose says a Fayose Abuja Obi victory in 2027 is assured and accuses the ruling party of planning to write results in the FCT
Isaac Fayose, a social commentator and businessman, said on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, on News Central TV that Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, would win Abuja in 2027, challenging Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who has called the capital an easy hold for President Bola Tinubu.

Isaac Fayose put the claim in a single line. “Abuja is NDC, Abuja is Peter Obi.”
Nyesom Wike had said the 2027 contest would be straightforward and that President Bola Tinubu would win both Rivers State and the FCT. He has also argued that the opposition is weak in the capital.
Isaac Fayose rejected that reading. He said people in the city were ready to vote and that the only fear on his side was how those votes might be suppressed.
“People are ready to vote. All we are scared of now is what angle are they going to suppress us from this time? This is the only area we are trying to fine-tune,” he said.
He alleged that the ruling party had little left except to “write results”, and said the NDC was preparing to block any attempt to manipulate the poll. He offered no independent evidence for that charge.
He also urged something Nigeria rarely does before election day: a public test of opinion.
“Go to the street and try to talk to one or two people. Ask them, ‘Who are you going to vote for?’ Abroad, before the proper election, they seek people’s opinions on who they want to vote for through mock elections. We don’t do that in Nigeria, but we need to start doing it.”

The exchange is part of a longer argument about who owns the FCT politically. Nyesom Wike has pointed to roads and other works in satellite towns as proof that voters will reward the government. Isaac Fayose treats street sentiment as the better guide.
