APC Lagos 2027 campaign council is unveiled, with Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Babatunde Fashola, Akinwunmi Ambode and Musiliu Obanikoro in lead roles
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday 17 September 2026 named its campaign council for the 2027 general elections, placing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, and former senator Musiliu Obanikoro at the centre of the structure.

The list was released through the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre. The party is assembling serving and former office holders to coordinate its work in Lagos before the next cycle.
Formal inauguration is scheduled for Friday 18 September at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu will chair the main campaign council. Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat will serve as deputy chairman.
Ojelabi Cornelius is Vice Chairman I, Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa is Vice Chairman II, and Damilola Sonayon James is Vice Chairman III.
Musiliu Obanikoro will be director-general. Rasaq Ajala is deputy director-general. Adekunle Olayinka is campaign secretary.
A separate advisory layer sits above the daily campaign work. Prince Tajudeen Olusi will head the Governance Advisory Council.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu will chair the Advisory Council, with Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode as co-chairmen.
That advisory body also includes President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Mudashiru Obasa, and former health minister Adeleke Mamora.
The party published a wider breakdown of directorates and sub-committees covering legal and compliance matters, party and inter-party affairs, administration and logistics, traditional institutions, diaspora engagement and residents’ associations.
The names signal continuity as much as campaign energy. Three Lagos governors from the same political family now sit on one council.
That is the point. Lagos APC politics is often a contest of factions dressed up as a machine. Putting Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode beside Babajide Sanwo-Olu is meant to look like a closing of ranks.
Musiliu Obanikoro’s role as director-general gives the operation a street-facing organiser with a long and sometimes controversial Lagos pedigree.
Balance is that a council is not a victory. Inauguration on ACME Road will produce photographs and loyalty speeches.
It will not settle candidate questions, local government fights or the mood of voters in 2027.
Other parties have not yet answered this lineup in full. The APC Lagos 2027 campaign has, for now, chosen experience over surprise.
Friday’s inauguration will show whether the big names attend as a bloc or only as letterheads. Until then the message from Thursday is simple.
