Ekiti PDP denies mobilising for Seyi Makinde’s 2027 presidential bid or working with APM, calling the report false
Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party Chairman Lanre Omolase said in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, that his chapter is not mobilising grassroots support for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s 2027 presidential ambition and has no pact with the Allied Peoples Movement.

Mr Omolase issued the statement after a report claimed the Ekiti PDP was working with the APM to build a base for Mr Makinde before the next general election.
He called that account false, fabricated and unauthorised, and said it did not come from the recognised leadership of the party in the state.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ekiti State PDP, under my leadership hereby distance itself completely from both the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and any purported presidential mobilisation project for Governor Seyi Makinde. No such mobilisation has been authorised, inaugurated or undertaken by the Ekiti State PDP leadership,” Mr Omolase said.
He went further and attacked the Oyo governor in personal terms. “Most importantly, Governor Seyi Makinde has never stopped to demonstrate treachery and we in the PDP in Ekiti State will not have anything to do with such a character who is only stable in betrayal,” he stated.
The chapter asked members, supporters and the public to ignore the original report and to treat as invalid any political statement issued in the party’s name without approval from its recognised officers.
It warned individuals and groups not to use the Ekiti PDP structure for private ambitions.
Mr Omolase said the party remained bound to internal discipline and due process, and that only authorised officials should speak for it.
Media houses, he added, should check facts before attaching a 2027 presidential line to the Ekiti PDP.
The denial lands on a party already strained nationwide, with factions, defections and arguments over who may speak for which chapter.

Mr Makinde has not, in this exchange, issued a reply through the Ekiti statement. What the Ekiti PDP denies is simple: no authorised campaign, no APM alliance, and no blessing for a Makinde presidential run from Ado Ekiti.
