Tinubu Confirms Shettima as APC vice-presidential candidate for 2027 after presenting his nomination certificate ahead of the general election
President Bola Tinubu has formally presented Vice President Kashim Shettima with a certificate confirming his nomination as the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The presentation followed the ruling party’s endorsement of Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate for the next general election, bringing an end to months of speculation over the APC’s proposed presidential ticket.
A video shared by Olusegun Dada, President Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, showed Shettima arriving at the venue, exchanging brief remarks with the President and receiving the certificate.
Dada captioned the video: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presents certificate to Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate in 2027 election.”
He also dismissed suggestions that Shettima’s position within the administration had been uncertain, saying reports questioning the vice-president’s role were unfounded.
“At no point was the Vice President’s place in this administration under any doubt. People just create scenarios in their head and start cooking,” Dada said.
The development marks a key step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 election, as political parties move towards completing nomination procedures before the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Tinubu and Shettima secured victory in the 2023 presidential election on the APC platform, with Shettima serving as vice-president since the administration began in May 2023.
The renewed partnership signals the party’s intention to seek another term in office.
The APC has expressed confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, highlighting continuity and the administration’s ongoing policy agenda as central themes ahead of the next electoral contest.
The announcement comes as political activities intensify across Nigeria, with parties beginning early preparations, coalition discussions and internal restructuring ahead of the 2027 polls.
