Asogwa confident Tinubu 2027 Enugu victory boost as senator-elect predicts APC gains in Enugu under Tinubu and Mbah ahead of 2027 polls
Senator-elect Ikeje Asogwa, representing Enugu North Senatorial District, on Tuesday, 24 June 2026, in Enugu, Nigeria, publicly expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah will secure decisive victories in the 2027 general elections, following the presentation of his Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Senator-elect Ikeje Asogwa made the remarks shortly after receiving his mandate confirmation at the INEC office in Enugu, where electoral officials formally concluded the by-election process.
The event marked a significant political milestone in the state’s evolving electoral landscape.
Speaking during the ceremony, Asogwa linked his optimism to what he described as visible development progress under both federal and state leadership.
He pointed to ongoing infrastructure renewal and policy-driven projects under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Peter Mbah’s “Tomorrow is Here” governance framework.
Asogwa said the scale of development being recorded across Enugu State would strengthen the ruling party’s chances in future elections.
In his words, “The transformation and development strides by our governor are tremendous and commendable. When you come, you see what is being done and you will be impressed.”
He further added that the administration’s performance would translate into broader electoral support in 2027, noting that visible projects in health, education, and infrastructure were reshaping public perception.
According to him, increased federal allocations following subsidy removal had also enhanced the state’s capacity to execute key projects.
The senator-elect, in a confident and resolute tone, stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was positioning itself for what he described as a “resounding” electoral sweep across multiple levels of government in Enugu State.
He said, “For President Bola Tinubu in Enugu, he is going to win. These are not just promises; they are projects people can see and feel.”
Political observers note that Asogwa’s remarks reflect growing momentum within the APC in parts of the South-East, where recent by-election outcomes have drawn attention to shifting voter dynamics and increased party engagement.
INEC officials, during the certificate presentation, congratulated all winners of the recent by-elections held across Rivers, Nasarawa, Kano, and Enugu States, urging them to justify the confidence placed in them by their constituents through effective representation and service delivery.
Asogwa also pledged to prioritise infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment as he prepares to assume legislative duties in the Senate, reinforcing expectations of active constituency engagement.
