Taraba APC Warns Against Move to Overturn Senatorial Primary Result

Party stakeholders in Taraba North urge the APC leadership to respect the outcome of the disputed senatorial primary held in May 2026

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba North Senatorial District have warned against any attempt to overturn the outcome of the party’s senatorial primary election, calling for respect for what they described as the “will of the people.”

The warning was issued in a statement signed by party stakeholders Abubakar Umar Ibrahim and Bilal Galadima on Monday, following lingering controversy over the conduct and outcome of the primary held on May 19, 2026.

The APC primary in Taraba North has remained disputed, with competing claims of victory by Kabir Bello and Senator Isa Lau, while the party’s national leadership is yet to officially announce a definitive winner.

The unresolved outcome has continued to generate tension within the party structure in the state, as factions push for recognition of their preferred candidates ahead of the next electoral cycle.

In their statement, the stakeholders alleged that certain individuals within the party were attempting to manipulate or overturn the result of the primary election.

“It has come to our attention that certain individuals within the party are allegedly orchestrating clandestine moves to undermine and overturn the credible outcome of the Taraba North primary,” they stated.

They further warned that any attempt to alter the outcome would damage internal party democracy and erode public confidence in the APC’s electoral processes.

“Any attempt to alter, manipulate, or subvert this duly declared mandate will not only violate party rules but will also erode public confidence in our democratic process,” the statement added.

The controversy highlights ongoing internal tensions within the APC in Taraba State, where disputes over primary elections have continued to fuel divisions among party members.

As of the time of filing this report, the national leadership of the APC has not issued a final position on the disputed senatorial primary result.

The situation remains a key test of the party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms ahead of future elections.
