The deployment is aimed at strengthening security operations and ensuring a peaceful, credible, and violence-free electoral process across the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Ekiti State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, and made available to journalists on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the deployment aligns with operational strategies approved by the Inspector-General of Police to provide adequate security during the election period.

Upon assumption of duty, CP Shogunle immediately intensified the implementation of security protocols designed to prevent electoral violence and enhance inter-agency coordination.

The measures include intelligence-led monitoring to prevent political violence, anti-thuggery operations, and counter-misinformation efforts across the state.

The police also outlined plans for secure movement of electoral materials, personnel, and other stakeholders involved in the conduct of the election.

A centralised operational framework has been established to ensure rapid response and effective coordination of security operations during the poll.

Security personnel will be deployed jointly under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security to safeguard polling units, collation centres, and other sensitive locations.

The arrangement also covers voters, electoral officials, observers, journalists, and critical infrastructure across the state.

CP Shogunle further confirmed that strategic deployment will focus on identified flashpoints to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

He assured that officers deployed for election duties have been properly briefed and will operate strictly within constitutional and electoral guidelines.

The police command urged political actors, community leaders, and residents to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful electoral environment.

It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring the successful conduct of a free, fair, and credible election.

CP Shogunle, a fellow of the Security Institute, previously led election security operations during the November 2025 Anambra governorship election, which was described as peaceful.
