Gov Idris Reaffirms Commitment to Welfare on Democracy Day

Gov Nasir Idris marks Democracy Day, pledging improved welfare, stronger security, and respect for rule of law in Kebbi State

The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, on Friday, June 12, 2026, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving citizens’ welfare, strengthening security, and promoting the rule of law across the state.

The governor made the pledge in a Democracy Day message issued in Birnin Kebbi through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki.

He congratulated the people of Kebbi State and Nigerians on the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, describing democracy as a collective process that requires sacrifice, patience, and active citizen participation.

Gov Idris Democracy Day message Kebbi was centred on peace, development, and responsible citizenship, as he urged residents to continue supporting government policies aimed at sustainable growth.

He also called on citizens to uphold the rule of law, respect constituted authority, and avoid actions capable of disrupting peace and social harmony.

“A peaceful and law-abiding society is the foundation upon which democracy thrives,” the governor said.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report security threats through appropriate channels while maintaining harmony within their communities.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving living standards through investments in key sectors, including road infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, water supply, and social welfare.

According to him, ongoing projects are designed to ease economic challenges and enhance the well-being of residents across the state.

“Our focus remains on putting the people first. We are committed to policies and projects that will directly improve the standard of living of every Kebbi citizen,” Idris stated.

On security, he said the state government would sustain efforts to consolidate gains recorded in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities.

He attributed progress in the security sector to collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, and local communities, pledging continued support for security operations and community policing.

The governor urged Nigerians to prioritise national interest above personal or sectional considerations, stressing that democracy must be used responsibly for collective progress.

“Democracy gives us the power to choose our leaders and shape our future. We must use that power responsibly,” he said.

He thanked the people of Kebbi for their continued support and wished Nigerians a peaceful and reflective Democracy Day celebration.
