Meeting to ratify Labour Party primary results was confirmed on Thursday in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, who said the gathering would serve as a key step in finalising preparations for the upcoming electoral cycle.

According to Ken Asogwa, the NEC meeting will also approve the list of successful candidates emerging from the primaries conducted across the country on May 30.

The party stated that the ratification process is in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the Labour Party constitution, describing it as essential to ensuring proper documentation and compliance ahead of submissions to INEC.

Following the NEC approval, the party said it would commence the issuance of Certificates of Return to candidates for various positions, including the presidency, governorships, Senate and House of Representatives.

Validation meeting for Labour Party primary outcomes is also expected to mark the first NEC session since the party’s national convention, a development the leadership described as strategically important to mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ken Asogwa noted that the meeting would consolidate internal processes and strengthen coordination as the party transitions from primaries into full campaign preparations.

Labour Party recently held its nationwide primary elections on May 30, a process that produced Chibuzo Okereke, a governance expert and policy strategist, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The forthcoming NEC meeting is expected to formalise that outcome alongside other candidates selected across federal and state-level contests.
