Idris Supports Tinubu Re-election as Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris defends his backing of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris on Wednesday declared that he has “no apology” for his public support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, reaffirming his commitment to the president during a political gathering organised by the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) in Birnin Kebbi.

Governor Nasir Idris made the remarks at an event where political stakeholders also endorsed both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governor ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Idris Supports Tinubu Re-election stance comes amid growing public debate over the governor’s vocal backing of the president, a position he insisted is rooted in development projects currently being executed in Kebbi State.
Responding to critics, Governor Nasir Idris said those questioning his alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu do not understand the realities of governance and development in the state.
“I saw a clip last week questioning why Governor Idris should be in the forefront of supporting Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said, noting that the commentator was not from Kebbi State.
He maintained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated commitment to Kebbi State through ongoing federal projects, which he said have translated into tangible development for residents.
Governor Nasir Idris emphasised that his support is based on what he described as visible “democratic dividends” being delivered to citizens across the state.
“That’s why we are enjoying federal projects today. The essence of democracy is to deliver democratic dividends to the doorsteps of the people,” he said.
The Kebbi governor further described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as both a leader and mentor, stating that the state remains fully committed to supporting his re-election ambition.
“Tinubu is my leader and mentor. We support him 100% in Kebbi State,” Governor Nasir Idris stated.
He also recalled a previous large-scale endorsement rally held at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi, where residents gathered in large numbers to declare support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
According to him, the rally was one of the earliest endorsements for the president’s re-election campaign in the country.

Governor Nasir Idris added that his administration will continue to align with initiatives aimed at advancing development in Kebbi State and strengthening national progress.
