The announcement confirms the Abaribe Labour Party defection, marking another significant shift in the senator’s long political journey.
Emenike Iroegbu stated that the lawmaker has now aligned with the Labour Party structure in Abia State, ending weeks of speculation over his next move.
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s latest political transition adds to a career defined by strategic repositioning across multiple parties.
He had only recently joined the African Democratic Congress in December of the previous year after exiting the All Progressives Grand Alliance, under which he secured re-election in 2023.
His brief stay in the ADC has now ended, with the senator returning to a familiar political environment where he is expected to play a more influential role within the opposition landscape.
The move has already triggered reactions within political circles in Abia State, where party alignments remain fluid and highly competitive.
Abaribe is currently serving his fifth term in the Nigerian Senate, representing Abia South Senatorial District, and is regarded as one of the region’s most experienced lawmakers.
His decision is expected to reshape local political calculations ahead of future elections.
