Oladele Predicts APC Victory in Ogun 2027 Governorship Race

Kayode Oladele says APC is set to dominate Ogun 2027 governorship race, dismissing PDP and ADC chances over weak structures

A former federal lawmaker and legal practitioner, Kayode Oladele, on Thursday, in Ogun State, declared that opposition parties may struggle to make an impact in the 2027 governorship election, citing what he described as weak leadership structures and rising dominance of the ruling party.

Kayode Oladele said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) face declining political strength ahead of the polls, arguing that internal weaknesses and defections are undermining their competitiveness.

He specifically criticised the PDP’s reported plan to re-present its 2023 governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, describing the move as politically unconvincing and lacking strategic renewal.

According to Oladele, leadership choices and zoning considerations remain sensitive issues in Ogun State politics, warning that imbalance in representation could further weaken opposition chances.

He noted that there is growing voter preference for more inclusive political arrangements across the state’s senatorial districts.

The former lawmaker also claimed that opposition parties are losing members to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he described as evidence of declining internal cohesion.

Oladele said political realignment across the state reflects increasing confidence in the ruling party’s structure and organisation.

He further pointed to the emergence of Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as a key factor shaping the 2027 political landscape.

Oladele described Adeola’s candidacy as widely accepted, saying it enjoys broad grassroots support and strong party backing across Ogun State.

He argued that the APC has maintained unity and strengthened its institutional base, giving it a clear advantage ahead of the elections.

Oladele maintained that governance in Ogun State requires experience, capacity, and strategic planning, rather than ambition alone.

He concluded that, based on current political dynamics, the APC remains the dominant force in the state, with opposition parties facing an uphill task in the 2027 governorship race.
