Atiku Camp Blasts Keyamo Over Tinubu 2027 Political Claims

Atiku camp Keyamo Tinubu 2027 political claims spark clash as Phrank Shaibu criticises governance record and rising hardship in Nigeria

The camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo over comments on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political standing ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Phrank Shaibu, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, responded to Keyamo’s remarks, arguing that political history does not automatically translate into effective governance.

Keyamo had earlier highlighted President Tinubu’s long political journey, describing his rise from opposition politics to the presidency as a defining feature of his leadership trajectory.

However, Shaibu dismissed the argument, insisting that leadership must be judged by performance and tangible results rather than past political achievements.

He said governance should be measured by its impact on citizens, particularly in areas such as the economy, insecurity, and cost of living.

Shaibu further stated that Nigerians are more concerned about hardship and insecurity than political narratives or historical victories.

He also accused the current administration of failing to meet expectations, arguing that citizens are facing worsening economic conditions and rising pressure on households.

In a strongly worded response, Shaibu said political strength in opposition means little if it does not translate into improved welfare for citizens once in office.

The exchange has intensified political debate between the ruling party and opposition figures, as early positioning for the 2027 elections gains momentum.

Analysts note that the growing rhetoric reflects increasing tension in Nigeria’s political space, with both sides sharpening their messaging ahead of the next electoral cycle.
