APC Blames ADC Crisis After INEC Derecognition of Leaders

APC, ADC Crisis INEC Derecognition addressed as APC blames internal ADC issues following INEC removal of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has attributed the recent decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to derecognise leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to internal disputes within the opposition party, dismissing suggestions of any involvement by the ruling party.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, stated this during a television interview on News Central, where he responded to growing political reactions following INEC’s removal of Senator David Mark and former Minister Rauf Aregbesola from the commission’s official portal as national chairman and national secretary of the ADC.

The APC ADC Crisis INEC Derecognition controversy has drawn attention across Nigeria’s political landscape, with stakeholders and supporters of the opposition party expressing concern over the development and its implications for party leadership and internal democracy.

Morka maintained that the APC has no role in the ADC’s internal challenges, stressing that the ruling party remains focused on its own political preparations.

He described claims linking the APC to the situation as unfounded and politically motivated.

He further argued that the crisis was self-inflicted, attributing it to what he described as a disregard for the ADC’s internal constitution and established procedures for leadership succession.

According to him, any disputes arising from the leadership structure were the result of actions taken within the opposition party itself.

Morka explained that party constitutions typically outline clear guidelines for succession and governance, and failure to adhere to such frameworks can lead to internal conflict and administrative consequences.

The APC spokesperson reiterated that those criticising the ruling party for the situation were responsible for the developments that led to INEC’s decision.

He maintained that the APC remains disengaged from the internal affairs of opposition parties and is focused on its own organisational activities.

The INEC decision has continued to generate debate among political observers, with calls for clarity on the criteria used in recognising party leadership and the broader implications for political party administration in Nigeria.
