Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa Orders Major Reshuffle, Sacks Aides

Aiyedatiwa sacks aides in sweeping reshuffle as Ondo governor dissolves SSAs and SAs, plans 1,000 new appointments for grassroots coordination

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has sacked all Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants serving in his administration with immediate effect, in a sweeping political reshuffle aimed at improving governance efficiency and service delivery.

The decision, announced on Monday in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, was described as part of efforts to reposition the administration for enhanced performance across key sectors of the state.

According to the statement, the governor expressed appreciation to the affected aides for their contributions to the administration and wished them well in their future endeavours, signalling a formal closure to their roles.

In a significant expansion plan, Governor Aiyedatiwa is expected to appoint about 1,000 new aides drawn from the 203 wards across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.

The move is intended to deepen grassroots engagement and strengthen coordination at the community level.

The restructuring marks a major political shake-up within the governor’s inner circle, coming after a series of appointments made since he assumed office in December 2023 following the death of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Notably, in September 2024, Aiyedatiwa had previously appointed hundreds of political aides across the state, a structure that is now being overhauled as part of a broader recalibration of his governance approach.
