APC Suspends Fubara Over Anti-Party Activities

APC suspends Fubara over anti-party activities after legal challenge against party convention and alleged misconduct in Rivers State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State on Thursday, March 27, 2026, announced the indefinite suspension of Fubara Dagogo, a prominent party member from Bonny Local Government Area, over allegations of anti-party activities and gross misconduct.

The suspension was issued by the Ward 4 Executive Committee following a meeting held on March 16, during which party leaders reviewed actions they described as contrary to the APC Constitution.

The APC suspends Fubara decision stems largely from a legal challenge he filed against the party regarding its planned national convention.

Dagogo had approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking to halt the party’s convention and contest alleged irregularities in the nomination process.

He claimed he was prevented from fully participating in the race for the position of National Vice-Chairman (South-South), despite reportedly paying ₦5.1 million for a nomination form.

In his suit, he asked the court to recognise his eligibility, suspend the zonal congress in the South-South, and nullify any election conducted without his participation.

He also demanded ₦100 million in damages, citing what he described as marginalisation by the party.

However, the Ward 4 leadership in Bonny interpreted his legal action as a breach of internal discipline and a violation of party guidelines.

Ward Chairman Richard Ibani, alongside Secretary Donald Jumbo and 21 other executive members, signed the suspension document, stating that Dagogo’s conduct brought disrepute to the party.

The committee referenced provisions of the APC Constitution 2022, particularly clauses relating to discipline and conduct of members, arguing that his actions undermined party unity.

They maintained that members had previously been cautioned against actions capable of embarrassing the party.

The suspension takes immediate effect and remains indefinite, pending further directives. The ward leadership has urged the state secretariat to endorse the decision and take any additional steps deemed necessary in line with party regulations.
