Otitoju: Makinde Would Have Defected If First Term

TVC’s Babajide Otitoju says Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde would have defected if serving his first term, criticizing PDP’s 2025 national convention

The Director of News at Television Continental (TVC), Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, has stated that Seyi Makinde would have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if he were serving his first term.

Otitoju made the remarks on TVC’s ‘Breakfast Show’ while reflecting on the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan last November, describing the exercise as “a mere waste of time.”

He criticized party leaders for ignoring court directives:

“People must show good judgment at a critical phase. Two courts told you not to go ahead but you went ahead. Later you will be shouting that the ruling party is behind your crisis, meanwhile you are the architect of your own misfortunes. You created this problem.”

Otitoju added that if Makinde had been in his first term, he would have likely left the party to protect his political future, suggesting that the second term offers stability that first-term governors may not enjoy.
