In a statement released in Bauchi State, Darazo specifically appealed to Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma”], Olusegun Obasanjo”], Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Yakubu Gowonformer Nigerian Head of State”], and Abdulsalami Abubakar to lend their experience and influence to the President’s peace-building efforts.
Describing these figures as “Guardians of Nigeria’s history, unity, and statecraft,” Darazo emphasised their critical role in guiding the nation through periods of uncertainty.
“At this defining moment in our nation’s journey, I call on TY Danjuma, Obasanjo, IBB, Gowon, and Abdulsalami Abubakar to join hands with President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Their wisdom and counsel are essential to ensuring lasting peace across Nigeria,” he said.
Darazo noted that under the Renewed Hope Agenda, President Tinubu has prioritised security and peace-building, but stressed that sustainable stability requires the combined leadership of past and present figures.
“Each of these elder statesmen has played a pivotal role in preserving Nigeria’s unity at different times. Their collective voice carries moral authority and will strengthen public confidence in the government’s security initiatives,” he added.
He concluded by urging leaders to rise above political, regional, and personal differences for the good of the country.
