Ogidi spoke during a live appearance on Trust TV on Wednesday, where he addressed the growing wave of defections from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The elder statesman reacted particularly to the defection of the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, who recently joined the APC.
Ogidi questioned the rationale behind governors abandoning the opposition to align with the centre.
He argued that a governor, by constitutional design, holds significant autonomy within the state.
When asked whether Fintiri criticised the PDP before leaving, Ogidi described the governor as a gentleman who refrained from attacking the party prior to his exit.
Ogidi, however, expressed concern about the broader political climate.
He suggested that developments within the country’s political space raise serious questions about the strength of democratic practice.
“I believe some persons who decamped from PDP will return,” Ogidi said, striking an optimistic tone despite the party’s recent setbacks.
