Over 4,500 PDP and NNPP members join APC in Jigawa, praising Tinubu and Namadi ahead of the 2027 elections

No fewer than 4,500 members of opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State.

The decamped members were officially received on Thursday at the Manpower Development Institute, MDI, in Dutse.

Speaking at the event, APC chieftain Hon. Adamu Indallah said the defectors joined the APC because of the party’s leadership at all levels.

“These are notable figures in opposition parties who have brought their followers to support the second-term bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi,” he said.

Indallah assured party members of his continued commitment to ensuring the APC’s success in the 2027 general elections.

Representing the defectors, former NNPP stalwart Engr. Balarabe Umar, a former candidate for Buji Local Government and State Assembly elections, explained that their decision was informed by the people-centred, visionary, and results-driven leadership of President Tinubu and Governor Namadi.

Umar noted that the synergy between President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Namadi’s 12-point development blueprint had already delivered socio-economic gains, particularly in youth empowerment, livelihood enhancement, and inclusive governance.
