Usman-Led Labour Party Rebukes Julius Abure

Usman-led Labour Party rejects Julius Abure’s claims, urges prosecution for impersonation following April 2025 Supreme Court judgement

The Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party has publicly rebuked Julius Abure for claiming to be the party’s National Chairman following the Supreme Court judgement of 4 April 2025.

Darlington Nwochocha, the factional Interim National Secretary, urged the Prosecutor-General of the Federation to expedite action on recommendations for Abure’s prosecution for impersonation and other alleged offences.

The statement responds to Abure’s earlier remarks in which he criticised the Independent National Electoral Commission’s refusal to upload the particulars of Labour Party aspirants for February’s council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, claiming the Supreme Court ruling was being misinterpreted.

Senator Nenadi Usman said, “The Labour Party is not for sale. Mr Abure and his associates should seek legitimate means of livelihood rather than attempting to commercialise political structures.

It is also instructive from INEC’s statement that Mr Abure and his drowning disciples of political party merchants have metamorphosed into vexatious and abusive litigants, having instituted over twenty court cases against INEC and the Labour Party leadership, led by Distinguished Senator Nenadi Usman and Distinguished Senator Darlington Nwochocha, across various courts in the Federation and the FCT in particular.”

The statement underscores ongoing tensions within the Labour Party as the Usman-led faction continues to assert its authority and challenge Abure’s claims to party leadership.
