APC Declares Yari, Bilbis and Ya’u Winners of Zamfara Senate Primaries

APC declares Senators Yari, Bilbis and Ya’u winners of Zamfara senatorial primaries after peaceful and transparent elections across all districts

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Senators Abdulaziz Yari, Ikra Bilbis and Sahabi Ya’u as winners of its senatorial primary elections in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Senatorial Primary Election Committee, Professor Ishaq Bala, who confirmed that the exercise was conducted across Zamfara West, Central and North senatorial districts.

According to the results released, Zamfara Central recorded a total of 136,419 votes, with Ikra Bilbis emerging victorious after polling 127,686 votes, defeating his closest rivals in a decisive outcome.

In Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari secured a dominant win with 125,235 votes out of 125,311 cast, leaving his opponent far behind in the contest.

For Zamfara North, Sahabi Ya’u also recorded a convincing victory with 65,642 votes, defeating other aspirants in a closely watched primary election held on May 19.

Professor Bala described the primaries as peaceful, transparent and well-organised, noting that there were no incidents of violence or disputes during the exercise.

He encouraged any aggrieved aspirants to channel their complaints through the party’s appeal committee, which is scheduled to sit on May 28 in Gusau.

The APC election committee also commended stakeholders, party members and the media for ensuring a smooth process, while praising the Zamfara State Government for maintaining a conducive environment.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
