Dr. Kayode Fayemi is a prominent Nigerian academic, security expert, and politician who served two terms as the Governor of Ekiti State (2010-2014 and 2018-2022).
He holds a Ph.D. in War Studies from King’s College London, with expertise in civil-military relations and security sector governance. Prior to his governorship, he was a notable pro-democracy activist and the founding Director of the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD).
Fayemi also served as the Minister of Mines and Steel Development under President Muhammadu Buhari (2015-2018), where he initiated significant reforms in the sector.
His political career is characterized by intellectual depth, a focus on good governance, and strategic leadership, including his tenure as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
