Martin Nwancho Elechi is a seasoned Nigerian economist and politician who served as the Governor of Ebonyi State from 2007 to 2015.
A prominent figure in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for many years, he successfully ran for governor in 2007 and secured re-election in 2011, demonstrating considerable political influence and public support within his state.
During his tenure, Elechi was known for his focus on infrastructure development and rural transformation, aiming to improve the living standards of Ebonyi residents.
In a significant political move in 2017, he defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing issues of impunity, corruption, and a lack of sensitivity to public opinion within his former party.
This switch underscored his commitment to his perceived ideals of good governance.
