Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum is a distinguished Nigerian administrator and diplomat with a rich background in public service and corporate governance.
He holds a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Education (Economics).
His career highlights include serving as the Nigerian Ambassador to Romania from 2004 to 2007, where he represented Nigeria’s interests on the international stage.
Domestically, he has held significant board positions, including a council member of the Nigerian Shippers Council and the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Ambassador Damagum also served as the Managing Director/Chairman of Family Investment Nigeria Limited.
More recently, he has been involved in the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), notably serving as the acting National Chairman, demonstrating his continued influence in Nigerian politics.
