Tinubu Ramadan Iftar sees Nigerian President host Senators at Presidential Villa, fostering unity and dialogue during the holy month
Barely 48 hours after hosting governors across party lines for a Ramadan Iftar, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hosted Nigerian Senators at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, 26 February 2026, in a continuation of his administration’s spiritual and diplomatic engagements.

The lawmakers arrived at approximately 5:55 pm in a convoy of buses and were ushered into the President’s Conference Room ahead of the breaking of fast.
Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and senior cabinet members joined President Tinubu at the gathering.
Although no official statement was issued following the event, previous Ramadan Iftars hosted by the President have served as soft-power opportunities, reinforcing cooperation between arms of government and promoting unity in addressing economic and security challenges.
The Iftar is part of a broader series of Ramadan activities at the State House, reflecting the administration’s effort to integrate spiritual reflection with statecraft.
The holy month of Ramadan requires fasting from dawn to sunset, with the daily fast broken at Iftar following the Maghrib prayer.
In Nigeria, the meal typically begins between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm depending on location and is traditionally preceded by dates and water, followed by communal dinner and prayers.
