Adeleke secured a second term after winning Saturday’s Osun governorship election, defeating the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
In a congratulatory message signed by Soludo’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the Anambra governor said the result demonstrated the trust Osun residents had placed in Adeleke’s leadership.
“Their vote speaks volumes of confidence in his administration and commitment to progressive development,” Aburime quoted Soludo as saying.
Soludo also commended the people of Osun for exercising their democratic rights and described their participation as an important contribution to Nigeria’s democratic process.
The Anambra governor said the peaceful participation of voters demonstrated the ability of citizens to influence the direction of their communities through the ballot.
He also used the occasion to call on political actors in Osun to put the contest behind them and focus on the development of the state.
“As Governor Adeleke embarks on his renewed journey of leadership, Governor Soludo posits that true governance thrives when leaders rise above partisan differences to act magnanimous and focus on shared goals of development,” Aburime said.
Soludo urged all political stakeholders, including the ruling party, opposition parties and civil society organisations, to embrace peace and unity.
The call comes after a keenly contested election that saw Adeleke defeat Oyebamiji by a significant margin.
Adeleke polled 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji secured 444,815 votes, giving the incumbent a winning margin of 66,252 votes.
The result gives Adeleke another four years to govern Osun and comes as political parties begin to assess the implications of the election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Soludo wished Adeleke a successful second term, urging the Osun governor to approach the renewed mandate with “magnanimity, wisdom, and courage”.
