Vice President Kashim Shettima has declared that critics can either love or hate him, adding that he is not afraid to face political attacks ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a video circulating on Monday, Shettima said: “You either love me or hate me, I’m not afraid to take a bullet.”
The remarks come as the Vice President continues to play a prominent role in mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
In recent public appearances, Shettima has repeatedly stressed that internal divisions within the All Progressives Congress pose a greater threat to the party’s chances than opposition candidates.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Arewa for Asiwaju campaign headquarters in Abuja on Saturday, he said he was not afraid of the Peoples Democratic Party or a “diminished” Peter Obi, but was more concerned about contradictions within the ruling party.
“If we unite as a people, as a family, we will conquer,” he told party supporters.
Shettima has also used recent platforms to defend the administration’s economic reforms, arguing that President Tinubu has taken difficult decisions that previous leaders avoided.
He has urged northern leaders to rally behind the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, expressing confidence that the region will deliver more votes in 2027 than the 60.2 per cent it contributed in 2023.
The Vice President’s latest comments reflect a combative posture as political activity intensifies and speculation continues over the composition of the APC’s presidential ticket.
