The endorsement was announced on Tuesday at a stakeholders’ gathering in Abeokuta, the state capital, which drew delegates from the three senatorial districts.
At the event, participants also expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s second term bid, praising his policies and programmes for advancing national progress.
Speakers at the gathering commended Isola’s credentials, describing him as the most qualified and experienced among aspirants to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun.
APC chieftain Chief Joju Fadairo recounted his visit to Isola in London, encouraging him to consider the governorship at the behest of prominent Ogun indigenes.
Isola’s public service record includes tenure as Minister of Mines and Steel Development, elected Local Government Chairman, Chairman of Local Government Chairmen in Ogun State, member of the Federal Executive Council, and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Speakers highlighted that his local and international experience, coupled with a compassionate track record, distinguishes him as a leader attuned to the needs of the people.
Responding, Isola expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their confidence and promised to make the state proud if elected.
He revealed that he had consulted widely with key figures, including former governors Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel, Ibikunle Amosun, and incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The discussions focused on ending what he described as “hostile succession” among successive administrations in the state.
He urged aspirants to avoid bitterness and stressed the importance of unity and peaceful engagement.
Clarifying the nature of the event, Isola said: “You do a governorship declaration in the open, not in a hall like this.
Despite the mammoth attendance today, this is just a stakeholders’ engagement. The real declaration is coming soon.”
