The development was announced on Friday by a delegation led by House of Representatives member Awaji-Inombek Abiante, following consultations with party leaders across the state.

Abiante described the move as a collective political decision, insisting it reflects the views and aspirations of the electorate rather than individual ambition.

He said the purchase of the forms demonstrates confidence in the governor’s performance and a preference for continuity in governance.

According to him, the decision was not influenced by financial considerations but by what he described as widespread public support for Fubara’s administration.

The lawmaker pointed to ongoing infrastructure projects and improved connectivity in riverine communities as evidence of progress under the current administration.

He highlighted developments in areas such as Andoni, noting that previously isolated communities are gradually being integrated into the state’s economic network.

Abiante also referenced improvements in social welfare programmes and upgrades to government facilities as part of the administration’s achievements.

He further described the governor as responsive to public concerns and attentive to governance responsibilities.

The lawmaker clarified that Fubara neither requested nor influenced the procurement of the nomination forms, which are expected to be formally presented to him.

The move comes amid shifting political dynamics in Rivers State following tensions between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

The political rift had previously deepened divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party before Fubara’s eventual realignment to the APC.
