Peter Obi Urges Nigerians to Protect, Use Their PVC

Peter Obi calls on Nigerians to collect and protect their PVCs, calling them powerful tools against injustice and keys to building a better Nigeria

Peter Obi PVC Nigeria—Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has once again emphasized the power of the Permanent Voter Card (PVC), calling it “the most powerful tool” Nigerians have to transform the country.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, Obi urged every eligible citizen to take the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and PVC collection seriously, describing the card as “the voice of the voiceless, the shield of the weak, and the weapon of the poor against injustice and bad leadership.”

“The future of our dear nation is in your hands,” Obi wrote. “The greatest strength of democracy is in the voter’s card.”

He warned that elections are won not just on election day, but through consistent civic engagement—starting with voter registration and collection of PVCs.

Obi didn’t mince words when addressing the issue of vote buying, calling politicians who buy votes “criminals in disguise.”

“Those who buy votes are not offering you charity; they only invest in their own corruption,” he said. “Such people are not leaders.”

He added that voters who accept money in exchange for their ballot “mortgage their future” and give up their right to demand good governance, quality education, and healthcare.

Obi encouraged citizens to vote based on character, competence, capacity, and compassion, and not to be swayed by threats, money, or political gimmicks.

“The looters will only loot when we give them the opportunity. Your vote counts—if it didn’t, they wouldn’t be desperately buying it,” he said.

Obi concluded by urging citizens to register, collect, and guard their PVCs, asserting that real power lies with the people.

“Let us stand together and prove that Nigeria belongs to the people—not to those who trade our future for selfish gain.”
