Afenifere Warns Peter Obi After Edo Shooting

Afenifere Director Akin Fapoumda warns 2027 aspirant Peter Obi to protect himself after a deadly attack on his motorcade in Edo State

The Director of Research of Afenifere, Akin Fapoumda, has cautioned 2027 presidential aspirant Peter Obi to prioritize his safety following a deadly attack on his motorcade in Edo State.

Obi and others were targeted by suspected assassins during the formal declaration of African Democratic Congress candidate Akpata in Benin City.

Fapoumda warned, “If Peter Obi was shot, what would happen? Nothing will happen… Anybody who dies, just dies. Peter Obi better protect himself and not just die in vain.” He described the political environment as uncivilized and urged Obi not to risk his life unnecessarily.

The attack has reignited concerns about political violence in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections, with observers calling for heightened security for all political figures.
