PDP Kaduna chapter praises Appeal Court ruling nullifying Turaki-led leadership, saying it strengthens internal discipline and paves way for a new committee
The State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna State chapter, has welcomed the Appeal Court ruling of March 9, 2026, which upheld the High Court’s nullification of the convention that gave rise to the Turaki-led leadership.

In a statement released on Monday, Sir Edward Percy Masha, Chairman of the Kaduna State PDP, said the judgment reinforces the party’s internal discipline mechanism and reassures supporters of a structured path toward renewed leadership.
The ruling paves the way for members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Board of Trustees (BoT) to assume leadership responsibilities, organise an NEC meeting, and establish a Caretaker Committee to manage party affairs until a new National Working Committee is constituted.
“Suffice to say we have a big relief with the Court of Appeal ruling, which upheld the suspension of some former key officers of our party, including the former Secretary, legal adviser, organising secretary, and others,” the statement read.
The PDP added that the suspended officers, who had previously inaugurated a so-called Caretaker Committee, “cannot stand as its foundation has been declared null and void.”
The state chapter urged members to remain committed and resolute despite the outcome, continuing with ongoing initiatives such as the E-Registration Exercise, and not to be despondent or lose faith in the party’s ideals.

The statement positions the judgment as a corrective measure that strengthens accountability, internal democracy, and cohesion within the PDP at both the state and national levels.
