Osun PDP Demands Visa Ban on Oyetola, Fagbemi Over LG Funds

Osun PDP demands visa ban on Oyetola and AGF Fagbemi over alleged blocking of local government funds and disobedience to court order reinstating PDP chairmen

Osun PDP demands visa ban on the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, over what it described as a deliberate obstruction of local government allocations and defiance of a Court of Appeal judgment in the state.

In a statement on Monday signed by its chairman, Sunday Bisi, the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State accused the federal officials of unlawfully directing council funds to ousted APC chairmen instead of the PDP-recognised officials.

According to the PDP, this alleged act not only flouts a binding appellate court ruling but also constitutes a grave threat to democracy.

The party is now appealing to European countries and global rights organisations to impose visa restrictions and sanctions on the two officials.

“We seek a visa ban and other punitive measures. These officials must be held accountable for truncating democracy and breaching constitutional order,” Bisi stated.

The PDP also petitioned bodies such as Transparency International, Amnesty International, and Western embassies, vowing to sustain global pressure until council allocations are released to the legally recognised PDP chairmen.

However, the All Progressives Congress swiftly dismissed the allegations.

In a rebuttal signed by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the APC described the PDP’s claims as a “desperate attempt to mislead the international community.”

According to the APC, the Court of Appeal ruling delivered on February 10, 2025, had affirmed the legitimacy of the APC council leadership, and the funds in question were being processed accordingly.

Olabisi also accused the PDP of attempting to withdraw its Supreme Court case after realising it had no legal standing.

He added that the state government owed local councils over ₦84 billion in previously diverted funds—an issue that the PDP leadership had conveniently ignored.
