Osun State House of Assembly passes Local Government Amendment Bill 2026, forwarding clean copies to Governor Adeleke for assent
The Osun State House of Assembly on Monday passed the “Osun State Local Government Amendment No 2 Bill 2026,” marking the third reading of amendments to the state local government law.

The bill, which seeks to amend the Osun State Local Government Law Cap 72 Vol. IV, Laws of Osun State 2002, was debated and passed during the plenary session in Osogbo.
Mr Lawal Bamidele, Chairman of the Assembly’s Committee on Public Account, presented the committee’s report on the bill along with recommendations for adoption.
The Speaker, Mr Adewale Egbedun, called for the report’s approval, while the Majority Leader, Mr Babajide Adewumi, moved the motion for its adoption.
Following the motion, the bill was passed and clean copies will be forwarded to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent, Egbedun said.

The Assembly adjourned the sitting until March 2.
