The FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, announced the deployment as part of measures to safeguard lives, property, and critical national assets before, during, and after the festive period. The statement, signed by spokesperson Monica Ojobi, was released on Wednesday.
The personnel, drawn from specialised units, have been stationed across communities and key locations in the territory.
Units include the Arms Squad, Crack Squad, CNAI Unit, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Unit, Female Strike Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Agro Rangers.
Security has been strengthened at vulnerable sites such as churches, shopping malls, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, amusement parks, and facilities housing critical national assets.
Undercover operatives have also been deployed for covert surveillance, and black spots such as uncompleted buildings suspected to harbor criminal activity are under close watch.
Odumosu directed area commanders and divisional officers to ensure comprehensive coverage within their jurisdictions, warning against lapses during the festive period.
“All hands must be on deck. I will not tolerate any form of breaches; ensure your personnel comply adequately,” the commandant said.
He urged officers to work professionally, in coordination with other security agencies, and adhere strictly to rules of engagement.
Residents were advised to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
