Makinde Alaafin Olubadan meeting holds briefly in Ibadan after the signing of Oyo State’s 2026 Appropriation Bill
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday held a brief closed-door meeting with the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, shortly after signing the 2026 Appropriation Bill.

The meeting took place at the Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s Office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, moments after the budget-signing ceremony.
Observers said the interaction appeared unscheduled.
The governor invited both monarchs into the Coffee Room, located opposite the photo gallery stand of the Exco Chamber.
This occurred as dignitaries were preparing for group photographs following the signing of the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
The meeting lasted for about 15 minutes.
Other guests, including traditional rulers, lawmakers, political office holders, and members of the judiciary, waited at the photo gallery stand.
Details of the discussion were not disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
The Makinde Alaafin Olubadan meeting came amid public attention surrounding recent social media reports.
Those reports alleged tension and rivalry between the two first-class monarchs over issues of status and perceived superiority.
Although no official explanation was given, some observers believe the brief interaction may be connected to promoting unity and harmony.
The budget-signing event attracted a wide range of stakeholders from across Oyo State.
Governor Makinde signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law during the ceremony.
