The clarification was made on Friday by the group’s spokesman, Habibu Mohammed, during an appearance on Arise Television’s “Morning Show”.
The Kwankwaso denies defection talks Tinubu narrative emerged amid growing political speculation about possible realignments ahead of future elections.
Mohammed stated that Kwankwaso maintains a longstanding relationship with President Tinubu but has not engaged in any negotiations regarding political movement or alliance.
He added that Kwankwaso would not require intermediaries if he ever chose to work with the President, suggesting that any such decision would be direct and deliberate.
According to him, both politicians share historical ties dating back to their time in the National Assembly and their roles in Nigeria’s political development.
Mohammed also referenced past interactions between both men, including a private meeting reportedly initiated by President Tinubu in the early days of his administration.
He noted that Kwankwaso declined to join the current administration but maintained cordial relations with several political figures across party lines.
