Kano Governor Abba Yusuf sacks Head of Service Abdullahi Musa, names Bilkisu Maimota acting Head amid civil service reforms
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has relieved the state Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his duties with immediate effect.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, said the move aims to reposition the state civil service for improved efficiency, discipline, and service delivery across government institutions.
In a statement, the governor expressed gratitude to Musa for his contributions and wished him success in future endeavors.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, Bilkisu Maimota, has been appointed as acting Head of Service pending the selection of a substantive replacement. Governor Yusuf directed that Musa hand over office affairs to Maimota by Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

This reshuffle follows the governor’s recent defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the All Progressives Congress, prompting adjustments across political and administrative structures as the administration aligns with the new party and pursues broader reforms within the state civil service.
