Yusuf Receives Praise for ₦5bn Gratuity Payment in Kano

Kano ₦5bn gratuity payment by Governor Yusuf earns praise from APC leaders and labour officials for supporting workers and retirees welfare

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has received widespread commendation after the sixth batch of gratuities and death benefits totalling ₦5 billion was disbursed to retirees and families of deceased workers in the state.

Kano ₦5bn gratuity payment was praised by National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and Director-General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, Comrade Issa Aremu, who described the initiative as a strong demonstration of responsible leadership.

The commendation was delivered during an investiture ceremony held at the Government House in Kano, where Governor Yusuf was also honoured as a Fellow of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies.

According to the Kano ₦5bn gratuity payment narrative, both labour and political leaders present at the event praised the governor’s focus on human welfare and consistent delivery of people oriented projects across the state.

Professor Yilwatda stated that the governor’s actions reflect the expectations of the electorate and urged that such efforts be sustained, while also pledging support for his re-election bid and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Comrade Issa Aremu also emphasised that labour unions would mobilise support for leaders who prioritise workers’ welfare, noting that pensioners and civil servants would recognise such policies during future elections.

In response, Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude for the honour, describing the fellowship award as both a recognition and a motivation to deepen good governance and improve service delivery in Kano State.

₦5bn gratuity payout in Kano State has also been warmly received by beneficiaries, many of whom expressed relief at receiving long overdue funds.

One retiree recounted receiving ₦7 million despite previously having minimal account balance, describing the payment as life changing.

The development highlights ongoing efforts by the Kano State government to address pension arrears and strengthen social welfare systems for vulnerable citizens.
