Jigawa PDP aligns with former Governor Sule Lamido and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, supporting the caretaker committee to resolve internal party disputes
The Jigawa state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed alignment with former Governor Sule Lamido and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, citing their commitment to justice.

Lamido recently explained his support for Wike’s faction, stating that recognising the caretaker committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed is essential for resolving the party’s leadership crisis.
Speaking to the BBC Hausa, Lamido noted the committee’s recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) makes it a practical step toward reconciliation.
Jigawa PDP spokesman Umar Kyari said Wike’s legal foresight on forming the caretaker committee aligns with court rulings, legitimising the faction’s stance.
He also criticised PDP governors who opposed Lamido and later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP plans a major reconciliation meeting on March 29 to restore unity amid defections and internal disputes, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Political analysts believe the party’s cohesion in the coming months will determine its relevance in Nigeria’s next electoral cycle.
