Isaac Fayose Claims APC Faces Tough 2027 Election Battle

Isaac Fayose APC election claims target the ruling party’s chances in 10 high-voter states as he calls for free, fair and credible elections in 2027

Social commentator and businessman Isaac Fayose has claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) could struggle to win in some of Nigeria’s states with the highest numbers of registered voters in the 2027 general election, alleging that the party would need electoral malpractice to secure victories in at least three of them.

Fayose made the claim in a video shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, in which he questioned the APC’s grassroots popularity and challenged the ruling party to allow opposition candidates to campaign freely.

He listed Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Rivers, Oyo, Delta, Benue, Ogun and Bauchi as states with large registered voter populations, arguing that the APC’s political strength did not necessarily reflect support among ordinary Nigerians.

“APC can’t win three out of them without rigging yet they said they are strong,” Fayose said.

The commentator accused the ruling party of relying on its control of federal power and the backing of influential individuals rather than broad grassroots support.

“You are strong because you have the police, the army and the rich people but you are not strong on the street. You all are bullies,” he said.

Fayose also questioned what he described as restrictions on opposition campaigning ahead of the election, challenging the APC to demonstrate its popularity through a competitive electoral process.

He called for an election in which all political parties could campaign and voters could make their choices without intimidation or interference.

“If you people are sure of yourself, why not allow free and fair elections? Why are you stopping us from campaigning,” he asked.

He added, “Allow free, fair and credible elections and we will know who is the boss and who is a bully.”

Fayose’s remarks come as political parties and their supporters intensify their public messaging ahead of the 2027 general election.

Competition for votes in states with large electorates is likely to remain an important feature of the campaign period.

However, Fayose’s statements represent his own political assessment.

His allegations of potential electoral malpractice have not been established by evidence presented in the report, and the outcome of the 2027 election will depend on voters’ choices and the conduct of the electoral process.
