The announcement was made on Thursday during the inauguration of the 12-kilometre Egbeda–Omerelu link road connecting communities in Emohua and Ikwerre Local Government Areas.
Governor Fubara stated that cooperation between federal and state governments is critical to sustained development, pledging to mobilise support among pro-Tinubu groups and stakeholders in the state.
“Let me stand here and make this promise again, whatever is required of me to ensure that there is total peace, I will make a commitment to do this,” he said.
The governor urged residents to maintain peace, stressing that development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of hostility. He linked support for President Tinubu to fostering harmony, stating, “The medium is to ensure that everyone supports Mr President.
We are out and we will support every other group to ensure that we deliver for Mr President come 2027.”
Fubara described the newly completed Egbeda–Omerelu road as another fulfilled promise from his administration, highlighting his commitment to inclusive development across Rivers State.
“We will make sure that we touch everywhere,” he said, assuring that government projects would reach all communities.
A faction within the All Progressives Congress defended Fubara’s recent defection to the party, countering claims from the Peoples Democratic Party that it was a self-inflicted political injury.
The group, led by Director-General Iniobong John, argued that Fubara’s move reflected a decisive response to the PDP’s internal crises, citing ongoing membership losses and leadership challenges within the opposition party.

John added, “Governor Fubara left a collapsing party. Across Rivers, Plateau, Cross River, and beyond, the PDP is losing members because it cannot respect its constitution, resolve disputes, or provide coherent leadership.”
